Wax Treating

Our core chemistry is based on the use of terpenes as solvents. The products are oil soluble and freely miscible in water. These environmentally friendly, non-toxic, natural products offer a safer alternative to aromatic based solvents when human exposure and discharge to the environment are critical concerns.
BIOACT MSO and DP are very effective paraffin dispersants for treating oils with high melting paraffins. The products are useful in applications where wax crystal modifiers are ineffective or high concentrations of paraffin are dissolved into the treating fluid. These products also enhance dehydration of waxy crudes and break-up paraffin stabilized emulsion interphases in separation systems. Emulsion treating applications are accomplished at treating temperatures below the melting temperature of the precipitated paraffin.
The products are used in hot oil/hot water applications to remove and disperse paraffin deposits. Typical treatment concentrations are 0.1-1% by volume of the total heated fluid. With BIOACT MSO or DP, the wax will not solidify after the treating fluids cool. This property allows the use of hot water, which is more economical, safer and carries more latent heat than hot oil treatments.
BIOACT MSO and DP chemistries are available as water based products. The water based products lower costs and improve mixing of the product in high water cut environments.
Petroferm also has wax crystal modifier chemistry for high melting paraffins. The product depresses the pour point temperature of oils that contain paraffins in the C42-C54 carbon number range.
